Chanakya Subsidies Given to 431 Entrepreneurs:

ABC has provided subsidy ranging from Rs 1 lakh to 2 lakhs under its Chanakya Scheme for 431 micro and small business/ self-employment units that availed bank loans in 2016-17. All these units are running successfully in various places in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh. A total of 1,845 applicants registered and submitted all required forms (including bank consent letters) during the year.

INTERVIEWS:

The 1,414 pending applications will be processed during the next few months. Final selection interviews will be conducted in April and May for 150 candidates who have submitted Format-1 (bank loan commitment), and for others in phases in subsequent months after they submit the documents. Detailed schedule with interview dates and venue will be announced shortly. Another 3,000 applicants have not submitted bank consent letters by 31 March, 2017, and are hence kept in waiting list. Their applications may be considered when the scheme reopens for the next financial year.

Sponsorship Needed for a Special Child

Ajay, a cute, bubbly little boy of 6 years from Kurnool district, the son of a private Brahmin Purohit with meagre income, is a special child. He is suffering from a mental challenge - hyperactivity and learning disorder. He is presently undergoing medical treatment and behavioral therapy that is very expensive, but is promising to make the child near-normal in a short time. ABC is currently providing financial aid for the boy’s treatment (and stay). But ABC requests large-hearted donors to sponsor the child’s special education expenses under the Sindhutai Sapakal Sponsorship/adoption scheme. An amount of Rs. 30,000 per month is required for 12 months.

3 women Orphaned with Death of a Poor Brahmin

Mr. Guntupalli Pulla Rao, shop assistant, a very poor Brahmin aged 50, of Narsaraopeta in Guntur district, died on 1st April 2017. His old mother (who is immobile), a widowed sister who is also visually handicapped, and her school-going daughter are all now homeless orphans, and need society’s help

The old mother gets Rs. 1,000 pension under the NTR Bharosa scheme, and the blind sister also gets Rs. 1,500 pension from the AP Government. The young girl who had lost her father is getting ABC aid under Bharati scheme. The wife seems to have deserted the family due to hunger and poverty some time ago.

Local volunteers including ABC’s coordinator Mr. Phanidhar Sarma are raising funds to create a corpus to be donated/deposited for the family’s benefit. AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation will also give a matching grant plus a regular dole of RS. 5,000 per month. ABC appeals to philanthropists to donate money to pool a sizeable corpus. Connect 18 Motivational Programme for students at Guntur:

ABC Managing Director Sri Venkat Changavalli on Monday, 27th February, conducted a motivational lecture programme for engineering, pharmacy and MBA students at the Hindu College of Pharmacy, Guntur. The programme was taken up under AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation’s Connect 18 initiative, which is for students of all communities. Sri Venkat told the students to improve their skills, as that is the only way to improve chances of getting good jobs or growing well in career. Success in examinations or in job trials or career is possible only through planned effort, he said. Acquiring good skills, planning well for career, and developing leadership qualities are the three mantras for success, he told the youth.

Archakas and Brahmin Groups In AP Express Gratitude to CM:

Various archaka sanghams and Brahmana associations throughout the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh conducted special pujas and archana, along with milk abhishekam, in various temples in the name of Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu for three days from 23rd February and invoked the blessings of God. This was to express their gratitude to the Chief Minister for issuing a GO restoring hereditary rights for Brahmin archakas in temples, and increasing their minimum salary to Rs. 10,000 per month. These issues were pending for more than two decades. The archakas also put up hoardings, flexes and banners thanking the Chief Minister. They prayed for the good health and prosperity of Sri Chandrababu Naidu, his family, Endowments Minister Sri P Manikyala Rao, and Sri IYR Krishna Rao, Chairman of AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation and AP Archaka Welfare Trust.
